The Origin Story of Freequency: Series Trailer 🌟

How Freequency Began

Back in 2017, I had just wrapped my directorial debut feature film. It had been on the festival circuit, all over local news, and someone featured in the film had just stepped into a lead position at iHeart Radio.

In the middle of a holiday party, he casually looked at me and said,

“You should have a radio show.”

The question puzzled me. I had just gotten used to being behind the camera, after years away from performing on any stage. But that simple, casual question kept circling in my mind—and it fast-tracked a vision I had been quietly holding for years.

As the owner of Blind Knight Studios media production company, I often told my friend Adrian,

“Imagine an alternate media network based on goodness in the world.”

Because as someone who had traveled extensively, I had seen firsthand that the world was, by and large, full of curious, kind, good-hearted people. Yet I would my hear people speaking to me as if the sky was falling. Sure, there are tragedies happening in the worldthat we should pay attention to, but the feeling of being under siege and that things are mostly bad wasn’t what I found to be true.

I found no network, no platform, no space, that seemed to connect and illuminate the bright lights in our world. The artists, healers, creators and rebels who stepped out of the status quo to live purposeful, meaningful lives—and in doing so, created ripples of goodness around them.

That was the seed.

What if we created a series to find them? To share their stories? To spark more light?

Within months, dear friends and collaborators from New York, Miami, and San Francisco jumped in. They say ideas take on a life of their own—and this one most certainly did.

A month into being in San Francisco, we started planning a small teaser. But when I called Adrian, he said:

“I’m not coming unless we film an entire series.”

Which, in production standards, is expensive. But something in me said yes. I began to visualize, to meditate wildly on the vision—and within 24 hours, I had manifested a deal with the owner of an Airstream rental company. He offered us a brand new Airstream for three weeks, in exchange for creating 360° photos. He even threw in a brand new truck.

Suddenly, we were on the road.

And as we traveled, we would message people with this vision of illuminating the bright lights in our world. In every city, entire communities came alive around this idea.

And this is the trailer of that experience.

This is how Freequency began. A project, a calling, a living experiment in sharing the goodness that still exists in this world—and the rebels, artists, healers, and visionaries keeping it alive.
