Here, But Not Really Here

Lately, I’ve been thinking about connectedness.
I’ve walked this Earth endlessly asking questions and investigating answers.
Now, more than ever in the digital age, isolation vs. connectedness is a vital subject to not just consider, but intentionally practice.
I observe that as people increasingly experience and process life through their phones, there is an increase in people confined to their fantasies, projections, and fears.
What mindfulness and meditation practices help us do is escape from the isolated and unconscious obsession with “ME,” our over-identification with our ego and racing mind that we experience as the world.
This is what I call in my book, FREEQUENCY, the lenses we wear, unaware we are even wearing them, tinting our perspective everywhere we look.
Here, but not really here. Here beneath a thick layer of whatever gucky fears have gelled over our existence.
Our perspectives can become inner holding cells that make our physical freedom unconsciously restrained and fearful.
By turning down the noise of what Buddhists call the “monkey mind,” or what I shall call the control of our inner prison warden, we reconnect with our purpose on this Earth. And that purpose is not isolation.
Just look at the trajectory of human existence. No great leap for humanity was created by one man on a deserted island.
By stepping into full presence in the here and now, into the world, into connectedness with each other, and into our present reality in all its chaos and vibrancy, we connect with Godverse, the Holy Spirit, the universal flow of life.
Only when we are wide-eyed, open-hearted, and deeply present to NOW does the foggy mind begin to subside, clarity bring forth calm, and we tune into the multidimensional magic before us.
Here we see the glint in the eyes of the faces looking upon us, the subtle energies transmuted during an embrace, or the tonalities of speech that reach us like music, honoring us with their presence.
A human before us should not be treated like a transactional swipe or a disposable good.
A human life before us is a miracle.
And no matter their flaws or issues, if you see well enough, there is more magic in any one human than in a million fantasies of people we do not truly know.
Here, in this interconnectedness, the heart’s electromagnetic field oscillates, our radar tunes in, our eyes dilate, and our bodies respond to the experience of connection.
No quick fix or fast hit of dopamine from the isolated reaches of our minds, looking upon a digital image or an acquaintance we hardly know, can equal a life whose average is not fear and isolation, but whose resonant frequency, whose average tone, oscillates around joy, connection, and a feeling so full that the goodness ripples through you like a sensuous caress.
A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT IT
Think of your screen as a black hole.
It’s very cool to look into. But be aware of how much of your attention, energy, and life force you allow it to pull into its electromagnetic static.
The more you give it, the less you have available for the universe you are actually standing in.
You may be standing in paradise, staring into distant galaxies, obsessed with what might be good, while missing what is extraordinary right at your feet.
TRY THIS
Look up at the sky for 10 seconds, breathing deeply and slowly as you do.
Then close your eyes.
Open them again and slowly bring your vision forward, back toward the world around you.
Welcome back to the universe right before you.

ESCRITO 02 — PRESENCIA
